Responsibilities: In this senior-level position you will be the point of contact for the communications subsystem design team that will define the requirements for the SLAMRAAM Air Defense System. SLAMRAAM (Surfaced Launched Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile) is the first new start in Army air defense since the Patriot Air Defense System. In this position you will interface with experts for the built Enhanced Position Location Reporting System (EPLRS) as well as Force XXI Battle Command Brigade and Below (FBCB2) experts. You will be part of the Tewksbury team that defines the system integration and interoperability of the next generation air defense communications architecture. This architecture is based upon the networking and communications capabilities of the EPLRS and Link-16 communications systems. The successful candidate will also establish a growth path to implementation of the next generation military communications system, Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). Supporting communications networks include United States Message Text Format (USMTF) over Multi-Subscriber Equipment (MSE), and FBCB2 over EPLRS and Single Channel Ground-to-Air Radio System (SINCGARS). With your knowledge of these systems you will help to develop the communication subsystem of the fire control shelter, launcher, and missile. Further you will help to develop new concepts to improve operability and performance of the system, improve command and control/battle management functions improve communications throughput, and analyze field data to develop functional enhancements. Specific tasks may include writing functional concept papers and test documents, developing operational guidelines, assisting in the design and layout of the shelters, field testing if preproduction units, analyzing test data, and the identifying necessary changes. Additionally, you may be called upon to present new concepts (developed by the team) to the customer. Some travel will be required.

The ideal candidate will possess


Required Skills:
Strong technical writing & oral presentation skills A background in Systems engineering methodology. Familiarity with U.S. Military & Government radio communications equipment operating in the HF through microwave bands including such items as SINCGARS, EPLRS, MSE, DAMA Satcom, EPLRS, TADIL-J, NTDR etc. Understanding of VHF & UHF RF propagation and communications interoperability Concept development skills. Excellent verbal and written communications skills Team player


Desired Skills:
System Architecture Development Familiarity with USMTF and MSE, TriTac FBCB2 and U.S. Military and commercial packet switches, networking, routers, etc. A Working knowledge of RF and data communications test equipment including Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, Communications Test Sets, etc. The ability to develop system and subsystem performance and test requirements, and to evaluate interfaces between various subsystems. The skills to integrate commercial (COTS) or government supplied equipment into a system or subsystems, and to test, and evaluate that system or subsystem with respect to test documentation. The ability to interact directly with customers. Knowledge of commercial RF communications systems operating in the VHF through UHF bands, both conventional and trunked. Knowledge of transmission protocols including TCP/IP and X.25
