Job Description
Responsibilities: ’s Mechanical Design Center is responsible for the design , development and advancement of state-of-the-art Radar, Sonar, Torpedo and Combat Systems Technology for DoD, FAA, Foreign and Commercial, Radar and SATCOM Systems. It is also involved in Radar Technology and Strategic Planning, including Research, Design/Development and Test. The Processes and Operations section of Materials Engineering supports manufacturing with material related processes such as potting, bonding, encapsulation, welding, brazing, paints and coatings. Processes and Operations aids in the transition to production as well as with manufacturing issues. Works directly with manufacturing personnel, resolving materials and process issues in real time. Technical oversight of production nondestructive inspections, specifically to verify the flow-down and execution of technical data package requirements. This includes procedure preparation, oversight of testing and interpretation activities to determine full compliance to requirements. Timely resolution of problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is essential to support internal and external customer requirements. This will include but not be limited to maintenance of a personnel certification program in both nondestructive inspection and visual weld inspection. Writing, monitoring and verification of inspection procedures. Oversight of equipment calibration and equipment recall. Responsible for assuring proper process controls, periodic process verification checks and test procedure set-ups are understood and properly conducted by inspection personnel. Must be willing to respond and quickly resolve scheduling and technical issues.

The ideal candidate will possess
Required Skills:
Significant Nondestructive Testing component or equivalent education experience required. Certification as a Level III in accordance with NAS 140 and ASNT SNT TC 1A in radiographic, ultrasonic, and penetrant inspections. If candidate is not already certified, must be able to achieve certification shortly after hire. Ability to interpret complex drawings and specification and clearly communicate verbally and in writing these requirements to shop floor inspection personnel. ability to establish inspection procedures and techniques and flow-down appropriate requirements to shop floor personnel for both NDT and visual weld inspections. Ability to review manufacturing process flow sheets and identify appropriate steps and sequence of nondestructive inspection points.
Desired Skills:
Be able to work well with people and be able to achieve results with a minimum of conflicts and within schedule. Shall have organizational skills to conduct re-certifications and re-calibrations within required interval. Must be able to motivate inspectors to perform requires tests and calibrations.
